Getting Started

Download the App

Download Disabled Directory free from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iPhone). Search "Disabled Directory" or use the links on this website.

Browse Without an Account

You don't need to create an account to use the app. You can browse the entire directory, access crisis resources, and use most features immediately after downloading.

Create a Free Account (Optional)

Tap the profile icon in the top right of the home screen to create a free account. This unlocks the Community Forum, saving favorites, and Pro subscription features.

Agree to Terms

The first time you sign up or log in, you'll be asked to agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Read and tap "Agree & Continue" to proceed.

Accessibility Directory

Open the Directory

Tap the Directory tab (folder icon) at the bottom of the screen. The app will show listings near your detected location.

Search for a Business

Use the Search listings bar to search by business name, keyword, or type. Use the Search by city bar to narrow results to a specific city.

Filter by Category

Tap a category button at the top (Food, Retail, Hotels, Parks, Healthcare, Transport, etc.) to filter listings by type.

Change Your State

Tap the state indicator (e.g., "πŸ“ MO") and tap Change to select a different state. This shows listings from that state.

View a Listing

Tap any listing card to see full details including address, accessibility features, ratings, reviews, and a map link.

Save a Favorite

Tap the heart icon on any listing to save it to your favorites. Requires a free account. View saved favorites in your profile.

Crisis Resources & Emergency SOS

Access Crisis Resources

Tap the red Crisis Resources banner on the home screen, or go to More β†’ Crisis Resources. You'll see national and state-specific resources.

Call or Text a Hotline

Tap any resource card to call or text the hotline directly. Resources include 988 Lifeline, Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741), SAMHSA, Poison Control, and more.

Use the Emergency SOS Button

Tap the red SOS button in the top right of the home screen for emergency options. Choose from Call 911, Call Emergency Contact, Suicide Prevention Hotline, Crisis Text Line, or Share My Location.

⚠️ Important: The SOS button opens your phone's dialer or apps β€” you must press Send/Call to complete any call. The app does not automatically call 911.

Medical ID

Open Medical ID

Go to More β†’ Health Manager β†’ Medical ID tab, or tap the ID icon in the top right of the home screen.

Fill In Your Information

Tap Edit to fill in your name, date of birth, blood type, allergies, current medications, medical conditions, emergency contacts, and insurance information.

Save Your Medical ID

Tap Save when done. Your information is saved only on your device β€” it is never sent to our servers.

Export as PDF (Pro)

Pro subscribers can export their Medical ID as a PDF to share with doctors, hospitals, or caregivers. Tap the Export button on the Medical ID screen.

Add to Your Lock Screen

Tap Emergency Access Setup to learn how to add your medical info to your phone's lock screen so first responders can help you faster.

Pill Identifier

Open Pill Identifier

Go to More β†’ Health Manager β†’ Pill Identifier tab, or go to More β†’ Medication Tools.

Identify by Photo

Tap Camera to take a photo of your pill, or Gallery to upload an existing photo. Place the pill on a white background with good lighting for best results. Include both sides if possible.

Identify by Text Search

Use the Manual Search section to type the medication name, imprint code, or description (e.g., "oval white pill" or "Metformin 500mg"). Tap Search Medication.

Review Results

The AI will provide medication information including name, dosage, uses, and warnings. Results are informational only.

Community Forum

Access the Forum

Go to More β†’ Community Forum. You need a free account to post β€” tap Sign In or Create Account if prompted.

Browse Categories

Choose a category: Recent Discussions, General Discussion, Mobility & Equipment, Mental Health, Benefits & Legal, Caregiving, Medical, and more.

Start a Discussion

Tap the blue "Start a New Discussion" button to create a post. Choose a category, write your title and message, then tap Post.

Flag Inappropriate Content

Tap the flag icon on any post to report it to our moderation team. We review all reports promptly.

Block a User

Tap the 🚫 button on any post to block that user. Their posts will immediately disappear from your feed and our moderation team will be notified.

Community Rules: Be kind and supportive. No medical advice β€” always consult your doctor. No objectionable content. Violations result in immediate removal.

Submit a Listing

Tap the Submit Tab

Tap the + (Submit) tab at the bottom of the screen.

Search for the Business

Start typing the business name in the search bar. The app uses Google Places to find businesses β€” select the correct one from the dropdown.

Fill in Accessibility Details

Select the business category, add accessibility features (wheelchair ramp, accessible parking, roll-in shower, etc.), and add any additional notes.

Submit for Review

Tap Submit. Our admin team reviews all submissions before they go live. Thank you for helping grow the directory!

Going Pro

Open Go Pro Screen

Tap the gold Upgrade to Pro banner on the home screen, or go to Settings β†’ Go Pro.

Choose Your Plan

Select Monthly ($2.99/month) or Annual ($29.99/year β€” best value, saves $5.89). Tap the plan to select it.

Complete Purchase

Tap the Subscribe button. You'll be taken to your app store's payment screen (Google Play or App Store). Confirm your purchase.

Cancel Anytime

Cancel through your device settings β€” not through the app. On iPhone: Settings β†’ Apple ID β†’ Subscriptions. On Android: Google Play β†’ Subscriptions.

Installing on Android

Open Google Play Store

Open the Google Play Store app on your Android phone or tablet.

Search for the App

Search "Disabled Directory" and look for the app by Disabled Adventures LLC with the blue wheelchair icon.

Tap Install

Tap Install β€” the app is free. It will download and install automatically.

Tap Open in the Play Store or find the Disabled Directory icon in your app drawer.

Android Permissions

The app may ask for the following permissions. Here's what each one is for:

Used to detect your state/city to show nearby accessible businesses. You can deny this and manually select your location in the Directory tab.

Used only for the Pill Identifier feature to take photos of medications. Only accessed when you tap the Camera button in Pill Identifier.

Used to upload existing photos for the Pill Identifier from your gallery.

Optional β€” used to send you push notifications about new listings or community activity. You can decline this.

Ads on Android

Free users on Android will see a small banner ad at the bottom of the Home screen and Directory. Ads help keep the app free for everyone.

Lock Screen Medical ID (Android)

Adding your medical info to your Android lock screen lets first responders help you faster in an emergency β€” no unlock required.

Open Emergency Access Setup

In the app go to More β†’ Health Manager β†’ Medical ID β†’ tap Emergency Access Setup.

Go to Android Settings

Open your phone's Settings app β†’ Lock screen (or Security & lock screen depending on your Android version).

Find Lock Screen Message or Emergency Info

Look for "Lock screen message", "Emergency information", or "Emergency contacts" β€” the name varies by Android manufacturer (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.).

Enter Your Medical Info

Type your key medical info: blood type, allergies, emergency contact name and number. Keep it brief β€” it needs to be readable quickly.

Cancel Pro Subscription (Android)

Open Google Play Store

Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device.

Go to Subscriptions

Tap your profile picture in the top right β†’ Payments & subscriptions β†’ Subscriptions.

Find Disabled Directory

Find Disabled Directory Pro in the list and tap on it.

Cancel Subscription

Tap Cancel subscription and confirm. You keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period.

Installing on iPhone

Open the App Store

Open the App Store app on your iPhone or iPad.

Search for the App

Tap Search at the bottom, then search "Disabled Directory." Look for the app by Disabled Adventures LLC with the blue wheelchair icon.

Tap Get

Tap the Get button β€” the app is free. You may need to confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password.

Open the App

Tap Open in the App Store or find the Disabled Directory icon on your home screen.

iPhone Permissions

The app may ask for the following permissions on iOS:

Used to detect your state/city to show nearby accessible businesses. Select "While Using App" β€” we never track your location in the background.

Used only for the Pill Identifier. Only accessed when you tap the Camera button.

Optional push notifications for community activity. You can decline or change this later in iPhone Settings β†’ Disabled Directory β†’ Notifications.

Lock Screen Medical ID (iPhone)

iPhone has a built-in Medical ID feature in the Health app. Setting this up lets first responders access your medical info even when your phone is locked.

Open the Health App

Open the built-in Health app on your iPhone (red heart icon).

Tap Your Profile

Tap your profile picture or initials in the top right corner.

Tap Medical ID

Scroll down and tap Medical ID, then tap Edit to fill in your information.

Enable "Show When Locked"

Make sure the "Show When Locked" toggle is turned ON. This lets first responders access your info from the emergency screen.

Add Emergency Contacts

Scroll down to Emergency Contacts and add your primary contact. This person will be listed as someone to call in an emergency.

Cancel Pro Subscription (iPhone)

Open iPhone Settings

Open the Settings app (gray gear icon) on your iPhone.

Tap Your Name

Tap your name at the very top of Settings to open your Apple ID settings.

Tap Subscriptions

Scroll down and tap Subscriptions to see all your active subscriptions.

Find and Cancel

Tap Disabled Directory Pro, then tap Cancel Subscription and confirm. You keep Pro access until your paid period ends.

Restore Purchases (iPhone)

If you reinstalled the app or got a new iPhone and your Pro features aren't showing, restore your purchases:

Open Go Pro Screen

Tap the gold Upgrade to Pro banner on the home screen, or go to Settings β†’ Go Pro.

Tap Restore Purchases

Scroll down on the Go Pro screen and tap Restore Purchases.

Sign In to Apple ID

If prompted, sign in with the same Apple ID used when you originally purchased Pro.

Pro Features Restored

Your Pro features will be restored at no charge. If this doesn't work, contact us at disabledadventures13@gmail.com.
